Our Wee Family
I bought a blank set of dolls about a year ago from one of my favourite shops on etsy. I finally painted them last night. I tried following Michelle's lovely style, not perfect, but I think I'm happy with them. The kiddies came downstairs this morning and were so happy to see them!

The 'Making' Bug
My son was bitten by it this weekend. He made woven grass placemats for our meals, and wanted to embroider something too. I chose a piece of a vintage pillowcase for him, out of which he decided to make an airplane! So clever!

The Happiest Day in Florida
It's the day the temperature drops to less than eighty thousand degrees, where it has been for the last eighty thousand days. Fall. To celebrate, I am giving away a handmade boo boo pack. If you would like one, please leave a comment!

My latest favourite from blogland is this adorable and fun blog by Dana. That's where I've spent all week. And of course going to Joann's to buy elastic thread!

Soft Book Variation
I am working on a new prototype for the soft book, and to add interest, I sewed some embroidered tags with the name of the animal on them. These attach with a small velcro tab to the page of the book. More fun or too busy?

Birthday Present
My daughter is going to a birthday party this weekend so I asked her what the little boy's favourite things were, she mentioned that he liked robots, so we decided to make him a robot t-shirt. I had a blank t-shirt that I had bought for just this purpose, and appliqued on in simple shapes, a robot. I cut the R out of his body, and used it to make a matching backpack tag. Since his name starts with R as well, it worked out perfectly. I hope he likes it...

My tree is wearing a brooch!
Did I tell you we visited the Handwork Center of Young India Project when we were there? Well, here's the result. I had made six cross stitch designs which I'm going to be making into brooches, necklaces, magnets, ear warmers, and all manners of small fun items. Here's the first, and I shall be showing you the rest as I make them. If you'd like to see them made into something specific, let me know and I shall do my best!

Treasures
Finally my camera is back in action and I can share with you some of the lovely things we brought back from India. One of my favourites is this little 'hammock' or baby bassinet that I made for my daughter. It is a little cup made of leaves, and it is used as disposable utensils by roadside food vendors. It fits her little baby doll perfectly, and it is played with a lot, inside and out. The baby doll is handmade by this talented lady!

Setting down
We're home, the kids start school Monday, and I'm ready for a routine. Unfortunately my camera charger is missing! I had to order a new one, so will be able to post once it arrives. I am so itching to start regular posting once again, but it will probably be middle or end of next week before I can. :(

Coming Home
After the fun of summer at the grandparents, we leave tomorrow for Florida. It takes us two whole days of travel to reach the other end of the world. See you there.

Young India Project
The Young India Project was founded 1982; tried to develop work guarantee plans for Indian agricultural workers in the federal state of Andhra Pradesh.
This is where we were the last few days, my first time seeing the work started by friends of my parents, a bi-racial Dutch - Indian couple, 30 years ago. After crowded and polluted city life in Bangalore it was such a lovely break to be back to the basics, watching cows being milked for morning breakfast, and taking a dip in the little water tank. The YIP also has a Handwork Center which the kids spent a lot of time in, doing experimental embroidery under the supervision of the girls.
I am excited to say that work has begun on a new wee gallery product which hopefully I can announce when we return to Florida in less than 2 weeks.

Mama Massage
The only way I get a 'massage' is getting my 4 year old to walk up and down my back. She loves it and it's the only way I get to lie down for 15 minutes.

Art Camp
My friend conducts an art class, which my kids went to for a day. I wish we lived closer so that the kids could have gone the whole three weeks. They had so much fun! The studio was so charming, my favourite part was the glass tiles in the roof making lovely little skylights. And of course, being surrounded by delicious kiddy art was fantastic!

Monsoon Wedding
We have been out of town attending a wedding in Goa. Check out the amazing skies in the monsoon. Goa reminds me of California but with Florida weather... beautiful. I haven't worn a sari in a hundred years, so was excited to be in one again.
