Where are all the hot people?
I didn't realise just how irresistible a 4 yr old in front of a lemonade stand would be! My daughter, since it's still in the high 80's in mid October here in South Florida, wanted to have one last week, and it was an hour of pure fun and interesting people observation.
Most would stop and ask her, "How much for a glass, honey?", and she would say in her cute cartoony voice, "One coin please!" And she was so happy that someone wanted a glass, she would proceeded to carefully pick two cubes of ice from the ice bucket, and add lemonade to the glass, and hand it to her customer.
As soon as her last customer left, she would immediately assume sulk pose and say a million times, "Where are all the hot people mama?" and "Where are all the thirsty people, mama?" I guess patience is really a learned virtue, after all.
One person gave her a dollar and said they didn't want any lemonade. This made her so sad! She said "I don't want a dollar, I want to give him lemonade!"
Oh to be four again.

Accordion or Conventional?
We're having a hard time deciding what kind of soft book would be the best design. The conventional book design where the child is able to flip the pages, or the accordian fold-out design. I remember my own babies loving to flip pages, but the accordian design allows for easy fold out at the cribside or changing table. I'd love to hear what you think.

Nesting
I saw these Matroyshkas made by one of my all time favourite artists some time ago and instantly fell in love. Of course there had to be a wee gallery set next! I finally ordered some blank ones, and painted them a couple of nights ago. Gosh it was tough! Now I have even more respect (if that's possible) for the amazing Irina. And I'm addicted to painting these things...

Our Wee Family
I bought a blank set of dolls about a year ago from one of my favourite shops on etsy. I finally painted them last night. I tried following Michelle's lovely style, not perfect, but I think I'm happy with them. The kiddies came downstairs this morning and were so happy to see them!
I highly recommend the kit or getting a set made for your family!

The 'Making' Bug
My son was bitten by it this weekend. He made woven grass placemats for our meals, and wanted to embroider something too. I chose a piece of a vintage pillowcase for him, out of which he decided to make an airplane! So clever!

Soft Book Variation
I am working on a new prototype for the soft book, and to add interest, I sewed some embroidered tags with the name of the animal on them. These attach with a small velcro tab to the page of the book. More fun or too busy?

Birthday Present
My daughter is going to a birthday party this weekend so I asked her what the little boy's favourite things were, she mentioned that he liked robots, so we decided to make him a robot t-shirt. I had a blank t-shirt that I had bought for just this purpose, and appliqued on in simple shapes, a robot. I cut the R out of his body, and used it to make a matching backpack tag. Since his name starts with R as well, it worked out perfectly. I hope he likes it...

My tree is wearing a brooch!
Did I tell you we visited the Handwork Center of Young India Project when we were there? Well, here's the result. I had made six cross stitch designs which I'm going to be making into brooches, necklaces, magnets, ear warmers, and all manners of small fun items. Here's the first, and I shall be showing you the rest as I make them. If you'd like to see them made into something specific, let me know and I shall do my best!
