Pink

 This is what my daughter chose to wear for school a couple of days ago. I love our school, that she was able to do that and was embraced for it! Her spirit is apparent in this outfit, which makes me a bit afraid for the days to come. She was diagnosed a couple of weeks ago with scoliosis (hence my absence from the blog), and she will have to wear a brace till she stops growing - i.e. age 14. That's another 10 years. She gets fitted for the brace on Friday and it will be ready in a week. She has no idea, and her only concern is whether it will be pink. I am trying to stay optimistic and hope by some miracle that she has no problem with the brace. But I am so sad. That this next week might be the end of her freedom...or at least how we have known it to be so far. Any alternative therapy suggestions from you are welcomed.

Nail Painting Love

My daughter's friend got this book for her birthday and it was such a hit! My daughter requested cupcakes for her fingers and piggies for her toes. She even wanted to have a nail painting stand instead of a lemonade stand!

Pigarina

I have mentioned many times that my daughters favorite is piggies. A friend of ours was in Europe over the summer and saw these piggy shaped gummies and guess who she had to get them for! Our after-school snack these days is Pigarina, who was created to counter the candy with some natural sugars...

FIve Minute Baby Shower Gift

I am always doing things last minute. Like looking for a baby shower gift (in addition to a box of wee gallery art cards) 1/2 an hour before we have to leave. This is one that came together sweetly. I found a vintage push toy in the shape of a whale, and a new American Apparel sustainable onesie in my stash called 'one day these will come in useful'. I cut out a simple blue whale shape and ironed it onto the onesie and voila! They went together as a set! I couldn't resist including a card saying "you are going to have a whale of a time with your little guy!"

Hooray for thrifting!

Sometimes you find treasures. Few and far between, but there nonetheless. Yesterday I found an original serigraph signed and numbered by David Weidman at our local Salvation Army. How lucky am I.

We sublet this place in Brooklyn from two sculptors who left NY for the summer. When an artist is involved in the decoration of a place, it is apparent. We feel lucky to be surrounded by this for a little while. Hope you enjoy the eye candy!

In New York Again

So here we are in the Big Apple, for New York Gift Show. We sublet an apartment in Brooklyn from a couple who are both sculptors, and wow, it is so pretty. Unfortunately I don't have the usb wire for my camera, so you will have to wait for pictures. While looking through my computer I found some more designs I had done on the alphabet poster so I thought I'd show them to you for fun! Have a great weekend.
